Join me as I create our new home away from home in Sarasota, FL. I hope to transform this one bedroom into the ultimate retreat – think Paris Apartment.
What a week! In one day, Frank and I settled on our new condo in Sarasota, bought a new bed, hired a contractor and met our new neighbors across the hall (who happen to be French!) Fortunately for us, our neighbors were also renovating their condo and introduced us to their contractor who we hired on the spot.
Then it it was off to look at flooring and paint colors. I love a white canvas so the paint choice was fairly easy – if you call over 200 shades of white easy. I chose Pure White, the brightest they had. Below are some sample rooms painted in that color.
Next we stopped by the flooring store (recommended by our realtor) and looked at floor samples. We considered tile, stone and even bamboo before choosing a wood floor. Knowing I wanted a pale, washed look, we considered several types before selecting this washed, distressed European Oak. It’s really lovely and picks up the gray, white, and black of my color scheme. Here are rooms with the flooring we chose.
Then off to the furniture stores – my favorite part! We have chosen to make this place more modern / contemporary and that look is easy to find here. I’ll share with you some of our furniture choices next time.
