Sarasota Update #8 – Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark

November 21, 2014

As the weather turns colder my thoughts are heading south to Sarasota once more. I’ve a few projects to tackle when we get back there including (perhaps) painting my kitchen cabinets.

You see, I’ve been thinking about painting them in Annie Sloan’s Graphite, a soft black, with Dark Soft Wax to darken it. Usually I’m a white kitchen person but I’ve loved the black kitchens I’m seeing on Pinterest and blogs lately. And, after painting my bathroom cabinets Graphite, really loved that look. Here are some kitchens that are giving me inspiration.

Except for the dramatic chandelier I am adding, the kitchen is pretty “uneventful”. I’m hoping the Graphite will add a little drama and a more modern edge.

And here is a glimpse of my kitchen cabinets in a Pure White. What do you think? Should I paint the cabinets in Graphite?

I started collecting Vintage French Champagne Buckets a while ago and have found the perfect place for them – on the ledge above the newly painted kitchen cabinets.I’ll let you know if I paint them or not – promise! See more of my Kitchen Inspiration on Pinterest.
