You would think that having a shop named “brocante” meant that I know all about vintage, but yet….
It started when I decided I needed a new pair of jeans. Well, not exactly new, I wanted a pair of vintage Levi’s – specifically Levi 501’s. Maybe it had to do with that perfect pair I had in 1972. So the search began and was not as easy as I thought. Seems they are highly sought after (who knew?). But I persevered and finally found them online (oh happy day).
It got me to thinking about what other vintage items I liked and look what was right in my neighborhood – this fabulous vintage VW beetle! I learned how to drive (a stick – remember them?) on one in high school and it’s like a first love, you never forget them.
Then, I looked around and found that I had been collecting vintage pottery for years. At one time, I had over 100 pieces (I kid you not) until even I decided it was obsessive, and sold most of it on Ebay. Ah Ebay, still the friend of those wishing to divest.
Finally, I looked at my vintage jewelry collection. That, I decided, was not going to be sold! After all, how many Joseff Bee Brooches are there?
Well, back to the future – I hope you all enjoy your vintage things – and be sure to stop by the shop – I may just have something for you.
