If you’ve been following my blog over the past year or so, you know that Frank and I have fallen for the City of Sarasota. So it should come as no surprise that we have purchased a home there – a midcentury modern ranch.
Midcentury modern’s emphasis is pared-down, contemporary patterns, natural materials, saturated colors and a seamless flow between indoors and out. Our home, which was built in 1956, has been beautifully renovated and updated yet has lots of the original features that make a midcentury home so special – such as gorgeous terrazzo floors throughout the entire house, a natural stone fireplace and a lush yard.
I’ve filled our home with all the modern furniture that we purchased for our condo here and added a few distinctly midcentury pieces to give a nod to the period. I’ve chosen a palette of jewel tones (citron and teal) to use throughout.
Frank and I are finding city living to be lots of fun – hope you will follow along as I take you on a tour of our new home. I’ll be posting photos of our progress on my Facebook Page, Instagram and Pinterest.
